Rules and Guidelines for U10 Alle-Kiski Girls League

The purpose of the AK U-10 Girls league is to provide our teams the experience of playing other girl-only teams.  PLAY IS STRICTLY RECREATIONAL.  The AK Girl’s league was established to help local clubs that did not have enough players to play games amongst themselves.  We are to promote good sportsmanship and fair play… emphasizing skill development and hard work…  which will lead to positive results for the individual and the team.

No team should get beaten by more than 7 goals.

This league is not considered a travel league, and play is not to be competitive.  It is our job as coaches and parents to emphasize other aspects of the soccer games that will help all kids to develop and grow in the sport.  On occasion, a very strong team will be playing a much weaker team despite our efforts to avoid this.  Coaches are reminded to see this as an opportunity to move their players around more, try a new goalie, etc.  Many steps can be taken to keep the score down but still have the game fun and to challenge the girls.  The less experienced team can add a player, the more experienced team can shoot from behind the 18, switch a player, etc.     Focus on individual and team skills, sportsmanship and fair play.  Opposing coaches should talk before and at halftime to ensure the games do not get out of control.  Learning to win and lose is always part of the game.  Total destruction of a team’s confidence is not part of the game.

These are not the “rules” of PA West, but the rules agreed upon by each club when this league was developed years ago.   However, PA West divides travel teams by division in order to have the same skill levels playing against each other.  Teams are sometimes forced to move to the next higher division to encourage fairness.

Strong competitive teams with competitive minded coaches and/or parents or teams who do not wish to abide by these rules should not participate in this league.

U10 Division A travel teams are available for teams that are ready to compete at a higher level.
