Coaches

KASL encourages parents to get involved in coaching.  Educational programs have been developed to accomplish this.  Coaching handbooks and a variety of videos are now available on soccer techniques, soccer rules, and micro soccer.  In addition, courses for coaching licenses are offered.  The PA Website has information.

KASL is committed to providing the players in the league with competent instruction in the sport of soccer.  All coaches and assistant coaches are strongly encouraged a coaching course appropriate to the level of soccer that they are coaching.

Licenses

KASL is committed to providing the players in the league with competent instruction in the sport of soccer.  All coaches and assistant coaches are strongly encouraged to attend a coaching course appropriate to the level of soccer that they are coaching.  You can attend a PA West course offered at various locations throughout the year.  Click here for courses.

Licenses are encouraged for the in-house program and required to coach travel.  The following is the minimum suggested level of licenses for coaching a KASL team (higher levels are recommended and encouraged).

Course Fees

Obtaining the license is the responsibility of the coach.  The coach will pay any fees incurred.

KASL will reimburse 100% of the fees incurred for Y(U6/8), Y(U8/10) and E license courses.  The coach must be coaching a KASL team at the time the request for reimbursement is submitted.

Act 33/34 Clearances

Each coach and assistant coach must obtain Act 33/34 clearances at their expense.  A copy of the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check and the ChildLine Clearance must be provided to the Director of Coaching within 4 weeks of the start of the session.
